OnePlus grabbed headlines when it launched its first smartphone in 2014 for a couple of reasons. Firstly, the OnePlus One delivered flagship specs for significantly less cash. Secondly,
Since the original OnePlus One, we have seen two more smartphones from OnePlus - the OnePlus 2 and the OnePlus X. Both follow the same lead as the OnePlus One by offering decent specs for a decent price, with the OnePlus 2 aiming at the flagships while the OnePlus X chases the mid-range. Now it's the turn of the OnePlus 3.
Launching via the medium of VR later today, but confirmed via a mail-out from Amazon India, here's everything you need to know about the new flagship killer.
With the OnePlus One, the company showed that it was possible to give an iconic design, thanks to the sandstone finish which made the phone stand out, as well as great performance, camera, all at areasonable price. The latest OnePlus 3 goes for a fresh look and ditches the sandstone body we saw in the OnePlus One and OnePlus 2.
OnePlus 3 comes with a metal unibody design, and looks like a more refined, polished version of the series. The drawback is that it looks like a lot of the other metal unibody flagships in the market, but then OnePlus has a square camera module in the rear with the LED flash and a notifications toggle button on the side, just like the OnePlus 2 did.
OnePlus 3 like the other flagships of 2016 runs the latest Snapdragon 820 processor clocked at 2.15 Ghz and this one comes with 6GB RAM. OnePlus 3 is one of the few flagships to come with 6GB RAM, joining the likes of Le Max 2, which was recently launched in India.
OnePlus 3 has a 16 megapixel rear camera, and eight megapixel front camera and so far the sample shots we’ve seen shared by OnePlus founder Carl Pei look stunning. When it comes to camera, the OnePlus One and OnePlus 2 delivered some exceptional results, so the OnePlus 3 has a strong legacy to carry forward.
OnePlus 3 in India launches in the 64GB storage space options, with dual-SIM 4Gsupport. It has a 3,650 mAh battery, which should easily last more than a day’s usage. OnePlus says they are using their own Dash Charge technology to help charge the smartphone charge really fast, and also ensure the device doesn’t heat up too much.
In India, the OnePlus 3 will be Amazon exclusive and will cost Rs 27,999. It goes on sale at 12.30 AM on June 15 on Amazon. OnePlus is ditching the invite system for this smartphone, which should come as good news to all fans who are hoping to upgrade.
